Visa Application Requirements for Canadian citizens
Business Travel to Russia
A valid passport and Russia visa are required for business travel to Russia (such as making sales or establishing contacts on behalf of a company).
Tourist Travel to Russia
A valid passport and Russia visa are required for tourist travel to Russia. Tourists are travelers who will be staying in a hotel, traveling with a tour group or on a cruise. (If staying in a private home, a homestay visa is required).
Transit Travel to Russia
A valid passport and Russia visa are required for most transit through Russia. A transit visa is for travelers who are stopping in Russia en route to another destination. (If staying in Russia for any period, a tourist or other visa is needed).
Student Travel to Russia
A valid passport and Russia visa are required for study in Russia; a Rusian student visa is issued for students enrolled in a course of study in Russia or participating in a student internship.
Work Travel to Russia
A valid passport and Russia visa are required for employment in Russia.

1Passport Requirements:

Original signed Canadian passport, plus one copy of information pages. The passport must be valid for 6 months beyond stay, and with at least two blank visa pages available for the Russian visa stamps. Amendment pages in the back of the passport are not suitable for a Russia visa.
2 Russian Visa Application Form:

One original Russia visa application per applicant properly completed on-line, printed and signed; plus one copy. The application must be printed on one page (both sides, back-to-back) in black ink. Important: please review Travisa's Russia Visa Application Guide at the front of the application before filling out the online form. Any mistakes on the application can cause delays. Be sure to keep a record of the ID and Password once you access the application. Corrections can only be made using the ID and Password. Handwritten corrections, applications printed in blue ink, or applications printed on two pages are not accepted by the Russian Embassy.
3Photo Requirements:

One recent passport type photograph, 35mm X 45 mm (1 3/8’’ X 1 3/4’’), in color, front view and with a plain/white background. The photo must be glued to the correct space on the printed Russian Visa Application form with original signature.
4Other Forms:

A Letter of Authorization Form permitting Travisa to process this Russian visa application.
5Official Invitation from Russia:

Official Business Invitation from host/sponsor in Russia, registered with either the Russian Ministry of the Interior with its local offices or the Russian Foreign Ministry with its regional representatives. (The original document from Russia is required for multiple entry visa requests).

You will receive the official invitation information (including inviting organization specifics) to complete your Russian visa application form by email.

6 Business Letter:

Letter from employer or sponsoring company in Canada, on company letterhead, introducing the applicant, indicating the applicant’s employment status/position held in the company, clearly stating the purpose of visit to Russia, and respectfully requesting the Russian business visa.
7Medical Requirements:

For multiple entry visa requests, a copy of negative HIV-test certificate (taken within the previous 90 days).
8 Global Reservation Form:

This is Travisa's service order form, where you will select the visa processing needed and make your payment. You must print the completed form and send it to Travisa with all other supporting documents.

Russia Visa Validity:

Russia visas are issued exactly according to the information on the official invitation. Russian business visas may be issued for single, double or multiple entries, for a period of up to one, three or six months. Travel to Russia must fall within the date of entry and date of departure stamped on your Visa Invitation and your Russian Visa.

Official Tourist Invitation from Russia, (called a Tourist Voucher and Confirmation), from a hotel or agency registered with either the Russian Ministry of the Interior with its local offices or the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Travisa is able to obtain your tourist invitation for tourist visa support. If you would like us to provide your Russia invitation, please submit the online Russia Invitation request form. You will receive the tourist invitation information (including inviting organization specifics) to complete your Russian visa application form by email within 24 hours. Same-day tourist invitation is also available.

6Other Requirements:

A letter of intent outlining the applicant’s purpose of travel to Russia, the length of intended stay in Russia, name of places to be visited, contact information in Russia, and accommodation information.

Russia Visa Validity:

Russia visas are issued exactly according to the information on the visa invitation, (voucher and confirmation). Russian tourist visas may be issued for single or double (two) entries, for a period of up to 30 days. Travel to Russia must fall within the date of entry and date of departure stamped on your Visa Invitation and your Russian Visa. However, the entry date for the visa is always a minimum of 5 business days after the date of issue of the visa, regardless of an earlier entry date on the invitation.

A valid passport and Russia visa are required for most transit through Russia. A transit visa is for travelers who are stopping in Russia en route to another destination. (If staying in Russia for any period, a tourist or other visa is needed).

  1. Carefully review the Russia visa instructions and visa application requirements above.
  2. Complete, print and sign all visa application forms, including Travisa's Global Reservation Form.
  3. Send all of the visa application requirements listed above to Travisa.
